EAA Airventure Comes Back to an Airport Near CyntrX!

The Experimental Aircraft Association had to cancel last year’s even due to Covid 19 but its back this year from July 26th through August 1st 2021! The Whitman Regional Airport at Oshkosh is just 45 minutes away from CyntrX headquarters in DePere.  This year’s show will highlight the Aviation History of WWII in special afternoon flight demonstrations on July 30 and 31st. “EAA Airventure Oshkosh is already the world’s largest gathering of warbird aircraft, so it it’s natural that this big commemoration would take place here, “said Rick Larsen, EAA’s Vice President of Communities and Member Programming. When not flying, look for P40 Warhawks, Supermarine Spitfires, P38 Lightnings, F6F Hellcats, C47 Skytrains, Hawker Hurricanes, P51 Mustangs, F4U Corsairs, B25 Mitchell Bombers, the B17 Flying Fortress and the B29 Superfortress at Boeing Plaza at show center or in the Warbird Area on the North Side of the flight line. Hear historical discussions about these aircraft at “Warbirds in Review” throughout each day in that same area.

At the 2019 show attendance was over 642,000 people and 10,000 airplanes.  In fact, over 20% of the US registered fleet WAS on the ground at KOSH at some point during the week. As for our Northern Wisconsin neighbors, over 250,000 volunteer hours were donated before and after the show by 4000 EAA members. During the gathering the tower frequency, 118.5 is the busiest in the world.

Besides warbirds, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Vintage Aircraft Association and Goodyear will be flying their newest airship – the Wingfoot Three throughout the week. One of the most popular and lowest cost places to stay are the dorms at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh or you can bring your tent or RV and stay at Camp Scholler on the airport grounds.
